The first day after arrival in South Africa is busy. After you have finished your healthy or your full English breakfast, we will pick you up at the lodge and bring you to Bushlore. We fetch the car together; after doing the admin we go straight for shopping for the next days. Food, Drinks, Spices and Cleaning detergents. Edu will be the co-pilot for this short trip. Given instructions on left side driving and guiding you through Joburg traffic. Our start point is at the Dung Beetle Safari address. From here you may repack your hard-shell suitcase into the more convenient soft weekend bags. Here you pack your Cruiser for the big trip. Last check if you carry enough drinking water for at least 5 days.

Our first night is at the Pilanesberg National Park, or as we call it Pilanesberg. Here we have time to get familiar with the set-up of the vehicle. Unfolding the tent, popping up the table and chairs and get your first cool drink even as the first trip of your holiday was only 180km away from your luxury lodge which is located 5km from our place and 30km from the Airport OR Tambo.

After packing the car, we hit the road. It is about 2pm by now, we do 180km on asphalt with potholes at some sections. A perfect trip for you to get used to the Cruiser. Remember, that Southern Africa is so much different than Europe. No worries, we speak English, German, and Dutch.

vaccinations

When traveling to Southern Africa, it’s essential to meet health requirements to ensure a safe and hassle-free trip.

Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into all countries in the region, so travelers should ensure they have proof of vaccination before departure.

Additionally, if you’re visiting Mozambique, taking malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended, as malaria is prevalent in the area.

Consult your doctor or a travel health clinic for personalized recommendations based on your specific travel plans and health status.

Obtain an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) from an official vaccination center, detailing your yellow fever vaccination for travel to Southern Africa.

Protect yourself from mosquitoes by using insect repellent and wearing appropriate clothing.
