Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you'll be welcomed and transferred to your luxury lodge, located just 30km from the airport and a short 5km from our base. This is where your South African adventure begins.
The following morning kicks off with a wholesome breakfast—whether it's a fresh, healthy option or a traditional full English. Once you're ready, we’ll pick you up from the lodge and head to Bushlore to collect your vehicle. After handling the necessary paperwork, we’ll jump straight into preparing for the days ahead by shopping for essentials: food, drinks, spices, and cleaning supplies etc.
Edu will join you as co-pilot, offering tips on navigating Johannesburg traffic and getting comfortable with driving on the left side of the road. From the Dung Beetle Safari base, you’ll repack your items from hard-shell suitcases into soft weekend bags, which are supplied by us, readying your Cruiser for the big trip. Be sure to check your drinking water supply—at least five days’ worth is ideal.
Around 2pm, we hit the road toward Pilanesberg National Park, roughly 180km away. The route includes stretches of asphalt with occasional potholes—perfect for getting a feel for the vehicle. Once at Pilanesberg, we’ll set up camp, pop out the table and chairs, and enjoy our first drink. It's a relaxed, scenic start to an unforgettable journey. And no worries—between English, German, and Dutch, we’ve got the languages covered.
